Sawdust Briquettes NZ

Sawdust briquettes are exactly what they sound like — sawdust, compressed under huge pressure into a clean, burnable block. Ours are made at our Ōtorohanga sawmill from untreated NZ pine sawdust and offcuts, no glues, no chemicals, no fillers.

How sawdust becomes a briquette

The sawdust comes straight off our sawmill operation. It's dried, then fed into industrial presses that compress it at huge pressure. The heat and pressure release lignin (the natural glue in wood), which binds the sawdust into a solid block. That's the whole process. No additives.

The result is a dense, dry, uniform fuel block that burns hotter and cleaner than traditional firewood — because there's no moisture, no bark, no inconsistency.

What our sawdust briquettes are like to use

  • Light first try — Always dry, no waiting for water to evaporate.
  • Burn hot and steady — 3x the heat output of firewood.
  • Stack tight — Uniform shape, easy to store, 1/3 the space of logs.
  • Burn clean — Less ash, no bark, no spiders, no creosote.
